A Winter Heart

The tree stands naked

Arms bare

Shouldering the biting wind.

The cold ground, saturated

Cannot hold one more rainy tear

Falling from the undauntedly dark, grey sky.

The dormant heart cries for hope

As winter wanes

Searching for signs of life.

And when found, a winter heart sings.
